The City of Carlisle Orchestra (formerly Eden Concert Orchestra) was established in 1962. Its objective is to provide an opportunity for regular rehearsals of the symphony orchestra repertoire for professional and amateur players. Players should be of minimum Grade 5 standard or thereabouts and there is no age restriction. See 'To join the Orchestra' for further details.

The Orchestra plays three concerts a year in the city, usually in St Cuthbert's Church, which is located in the city centre. For at least one of these concerts, guest professional soloists or gifted amateurs are invited to play a concerto with the orchestra.
